John Hudson WhiteFranco Maria Ricci’s magazine, “FMR”, which Jackie Kennedy called “the most beautiful magazine in the world” and Fellini, “the black pearl,” was published from 1982 to 2009. In 2015, Ricci completed a seven-hectares wide labyrinthine maze in Fontanellato, Italy (not far from Parma and Modena) outside of what would become a small museum.
The giant bamboo maze and museum are truly a gem, and feature a large collection of his own personal art and books collection, a 1963 Jaguar E-Type, a bookshop, and a restaurant.
This interview took place a year before his passing, in September, 2020.
JHW (John Hudson White). What are some of your favorite pieces from your own collection?
FMR: (Franco Maria Ricci). One of my favorites is the Vir Temporis Acti, made by the Milanese sculptor Adolfo Wildt (1868-1931) between 1910 and 1912 for his friend and patron Franz Rose.
